5 Out Foods is a chef curated parent company needing a brand that could fit over a variety of packaging systems. Driven by the desire to give consumers healthy, plant-based, and environmentally conscious products ranging from vegan miso “beef” jerky, to an established Portland condiments company, the owners of 5 Out brand set out to define a new type of brand–one created by the makers who knew if best: chefs.

Since the logo would be utilized and placed on a wide range of packaging systems, we set out to create a logo that could be fluid and understandable. The illustrative 5 reflects the masterful techniques that chefs can be found using behind the swinging doors of restaurant kitchens around the world.

With its origins rooted in an uncommon language and a secret code, the term “5-Out” used to be reserved solely for the ones willing and cunning enough to stand closest to the fire-behind the swinging doors of bustling restaurants. Find them on the line, devoting endless hours sharpening their knives and their craft. Here the names of dishes are presented before the makers behind it. To these chefs the phrase “5-Out” is a rallying cry for perfection. When uttered, the kitchen sings in the final moments of plating as all stations dive into a level of focus, unison and finesse bringing what was once an idea, onto a plate. Those last five moments are what separate the average from the pristine. 5 Out Foods was born out of this fervor. Our chefs have put in the time on the line and we are proud to present products that are chosen for singularity and quality- tested through fire and flambé, from our kitchen to yours. When you notice brands from 5-Out Foods, we hope you recognize the secret code to perfection.
